Expanding IT Training Programs In A Resource-Limited Environment
Many community colleges and universities are experiencing budget shortages in carrying out and expanding their Information Technology programs. It is often difficult to obtain resources for operating system, cybersecurity, networking, and complex applications training programs. There is an increasing demand for remote distance learning programs in which students and instructors are not required to be present in the classroom to successfully participate in the learning experience. Organizations pursuing grants in order to research pedagogical methods for IT training can create the ideal research environment by using NETLAB+ to provide access to their IT equipment. Our solutions facilitate scheduling, automation and secure access to your IT equipment, allowing your staff to focus on researching new teaching pedagogies and the development of online curriculum.
Network Development Group is pleased to offer collaboration with your institution as a supplier or partner in the use of State or Federal Grants in these areas:
- Working with your team to design the system and propose the content and online lab experience for your expanded program under the grant.
- Providing input for your grant proposals as a co-applicant or a systems and services supplier under your grant.
- Working with you under the awarded grant to provide systems and services for expanding your IT distance learning programs.
The following areas are known grant opportunities at this time:
- State grants and consortia (vary by state, Examples: NC Openbook and NC Recovery)
- Over fourteen areas within the new Public Law 111-5 (“The American Recovery and Reinvestment act of 2009”, a.k.a “The $800 billion federal stimulus act”) . These opportunities are for direct application to federal agencies as well as working within the state to secure funding provided directly to the state 111-5.
- National Science Foundation (IT Training consortia and centers of excellence)
- Department of Homeland Security (Cybersecurity training)
- Department of Labor (“Workforce Investment Act of 1998”)
- Department of Education (“State fiscal stabilization fund”)
