Access codes, bookstores, and purchase orders
What is an access code?
When a learner enrolls in a paid NDG Online course or lab, NDG Online asks them to buy access or enter an access code. Codes are for access bought by someone else: a bookstore that resells it, or a school or instructor buying for learners. Learners who buy for themselves don't use codes.
How are access codes delivered?
Once an order is placed and approved, the codes are emailed to the address on the order. Nothing ships. NDG may require payment before it generates codes.
Do access codes come with instructions for learners?
No. An order includes only the codes, with no enrollment URL or instructions. Learners need an enrollment URL to use a code, and the class's instructor provides it along with how the class uses NDG Online. An instructor can ask for those instructions to be passed on with the codes.
Do access codes have ISBNs?
Most do. You don't need an ISBN to order, but bookstores use them for inventory and to order the right codes. The NDG Online pricing page lists the ISBN for each course that has one.
Who can pay by purchase order?
Members of degree-granting, accredited academic institutions, and those ordering for them such as bookstores, unless NDG Online support has agreed to other arrangements in advance. Individuals can't pay by purchase order. Purchase orders are for 5 codes or more.
How do I order with a purchase order?
- Open the course in the NDG Online course catalog.
- Select Order access codes, or Order academic access codes where the course offers academic pricing. Both open the FastSpring order page.
- Enter your purchase order number, if you have one, and submit the order.
You must place the order on the order page even when you pay by purchase order. Sending a purchase order to NDG Online support or to FastSpring does not place an order.
A purchase order goes to NDG Online support for approval. After approval, FastSpring emails an invoice with payment instructions. Payment options vary by region, and most orders are paid by card.

Are there discounts for bulk orders?
No. NDG does not discount bulk orders or orders for resale.
Who processes payments?
FastSpring, NDG's reseller and the vendor of record for every purchase. NDG does not sell access codes directly. For payment questions, contact FastSpring buyer support.
How do I get a W-9?
FastSpring is the vendor of record, so the W-9 is FastSpring's: FastSpring W-9 (PDF).
How do I set NDG up as a new vendor?
Set up FastSpring as the vendor instead of NDG, since FastSpring is the vendor of record. FastSpring buyer support has the details your purchasing team needs.
Can I pay by bank or wire transfer?
In most cases, no. Payment options vary by region, and most orders are paid by card, PayPal, or check.
Is VAT charged for buyers in the EU?
Yes. FastSpring is a US seller of digital goods, and EU law requires it to charge VAT at the rate of the buyer's country.
When do the access codes arrive?
When payment is confirmed. A card payment generates codes after the transaction is confirmed. A mailed check generates them once FastSpring receives and processes it. With a purchase order, NDG Online support may send codes before payment arrives.
