Tax-exempt orders in the United States
Whether FastSpring charges sales tax depends on your state and other factors. To find out, start an order and enter your physical address; this doesn't commit you to buying. If tax is charged, there are three ways to avoid paying it.
Paying by check
Use this if the invoice can show sales tax. Order as usual and choose Check or Money Order. Write the check for the invoice total minus the sales tax. NDG Online support may ask for your tax-exemption paperwork after FastSpring processes the payment. The final receipt shows no tax.
Paying by card
Pay the full invoice by card, then contact NDG Online support. Support refunds the sales tax, and the final receipt shows no tax.
An invoice with no tax on it
If your purchasing department needs an invoice with no sales tax line, or you are paying by card and a refund won't work, contact NDG or FastSpring before you order:
The only way to get an invoice without sales tax is a manual order placed by FastSpring or NDG Online support. It takes longer than the other methods, and manual orders need at least 5 codes. Removing tax from an existing invoice usually means canceling the order and placing a new one, so ask before you order.
The check and card methods have no minimum quantity, take fewer steps, and run into fewer problems.
